PawDaily for Dogs with Pain & Arthritis

If your dog or cat is having more mobility issues, difficulty getting up, pain, or tires easily as they age then Arthritis could be the culprit. Arthritis is a general term for a group of more than 100 conditions that cause inflammation or swelling of one or more joints, tissues around the joint, and other connective tissues. Specific symptoms vary depending on the type of arthritis, but usually include joint pain, inflammation, stiffness, and limited mobility [1].

There are many different types and presentation of Arthritis in cats and dogs, some of the most common are:

  • Osteoarthritis - (also known as degenerative joint disease) is when the protective cartilage around a bones or joint is degraded reducing cushioning, increasing friction between the bones, and leading to pain, reduced mobility, and inflammation in the affected joint.  This is the most common type of Arthritis affecting 20% of all middle aged and geriatric dogs [2].
  • Inflammatory Joint Disease - Usually brought on by an infection, pest-borne disease, or an underlying immune dysfunction that is hereditary based on genetics or certain breeds.
  • Hip Dysplasia - A deformity of the hip that occurs during growth due to a number of factors including diet, rapid growth, environment, weight, and exercise. It is more prevalent in larger dog breeds (>50 lbs) which are more prone to dysplasia, however can also develop in smaller breeds. [3]

When a pet suffers from arthritis they may experience more pain during movement and as a result reduce or avoid certain activities. Some ways to help manage arthritis in an aging pet include:

  • Non-slip rugs (avoid slippery surfaces)
  • Block off stairways
  • Regular exercise (as tolerated)
  • Diet changes
  • Non-Steroidal Anti-inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDS) such as Meloxicam or Carprofen
  • Supplements such as Omega 3 supplements, Chondroitin, Glucosamine
  • Full Spectrum Hemp Oil

How does Full Spectrum Hemp Oil help with Arthritis in Dogs or Cats?

Dogs and cats, similar to human have 2 types of endocannabinoid receptors in their body, CB1 receptors which are located in the brain and nervous system, and CB2 receptors which are located in the immune system. Key components of hemp oil have been shown to work on the endocannabinoid system and play a role in reducing pain and inflammation by acting on CB1 receptors [4].

A double blind, randomized, controlled trial of supplementing hemp oil in dogs with arthritis found that has shown that components of Hemp Oil at a concentration of 2mg/kg bodyweight administered 2 times per day increases comfort and activity level in dogs suffering from Osteoarthritis (OA) with no negative side effects reported by owners or veterinarians [5]. All Pawtanical PawDaily Full Spectrum Hemp Oil products are based on this dosing for maximum effectiveness and in line with the latest research to ensure maximum health benefits for your pet.

While there is positive research and testimonials from some of our customers below on how PawDaily (and Hemp Oil in general) can help improve mobility, and reduce pain associated with arthritis, always be sure to consult with your Veterinarian before starting your pet on any new medication including hemp oil to ensure it is the right solution for your pet and that it won't interact with any other medications they are currently taking.

PawDaily Testimonials

Hazel

Three years ago my 11 year old Border Collie could no longer walk up or down the stairs, could barely walk around the block. I took her to the vet $1200 later they told me there was nothing they could do & prescribed a painkiller, they said, would have to be taken the rest of her life. The painkillers knocked her out, did nothing for her quality of life.

I started her on Pawtanical PawDaily oil a few weeks after the bad news from the vet. Within 2 weeks of adding the oil to Hazels food she was walking down the stairs, slowly but surely we were taking little walks. After a month she was doing full hour walks and able to get up the stairs.

I feel the oil healing her original injury then proceeded to rejuvenate her whole body. She has now been taking the oil for 3 years. She is like a puppy again. Her energy level is as it was when she was young. Her teeth, legs, eyes and fur are so healthy.

I am so grateful for Pawtanical, Hazel is now 14 now and I feel like I have a Puppy!
